Tankodrome sign

Post by CoHtaku » Thu Dec 31, 2015 12:05 am

Hi all,

I was just wondering, does anybody know what the sign on the Maintenance Bay says?

Image

I can only make out the following:

KINDNESS TO ANIMALS
500 HORSES LAMED BY
NAILS LEFT ON ROADS
BY COOKERS CARRYING
[INDECIPHERABLE]
PLEASE REMOVE NAILS

I'd love to know what that penultimate line is.

FIREWOOD WITH NAILS LEFT IN
PLEASE REMOVE NAILS

That's a movie reference by the way ;)

Thank you very much! :) Do you mind if i ask what film that was? I don't watch many war films because most of them seem to be crap.

It seems odd to me though that a horse could get lamed by a nail since people hammer nails into them anyway. But then i don't know much about 'ancient tanks'. :P

It appears in a bad Canadian WW1 movie called "Passchendaele" (like the battle).
The sign has a basis in history though, as you can read here:

Thanks. :) I don't think i'll bother watching it though if it's bad. (Unless of course it's so bad it's good, in which case i'll probably like it.)

Thanks for the link, too. I see now why tanks don't have tyres.
